Long pepper sometimes called as “Pipli” in India. It is well known for its strong flavour however, its flavour is often mistaken with that of black pepper. May be it possess Black Pepper’s heart and musk but in a less harsh and more nuanced way; tempered by sweet notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom. Its finish linger on the tongue with a tobacco – like coolness.

There are multiple benefits of long pepper like it helps in curing diseases like insomnia, toothache, piles, heart diseases etc. It is a highly beneficial ingredient used since from immemorial times.

Long Pepper grown in North east is also called “Suvali Pipali”.
